DESCRIPTION OF ITINERARY:
PUNO – BIKING TO SILLUSTANI – PUNO: The tour begin with the transfer from your hotel to Paucarcolla village, from where is starting our biking program. Pedaling about 1:30 hrs in direction to Sillustani, we will pass the local communities and typical farm houses. The archaeological complex of Sillustani is located 34 km northwest of Puno city, a car trip of 50 minutes. Sillustani is a peninsula, where on the top of the hill lies a cemetery, stone tombs (Chullpas) from pre-Inca times, built by Kolla and Inca religious leaders 3000 years ago to bury their leaders, there are over 90 tombs of different sizes and shapes. The Chullpa known as lagarto is the most prominent, which is 12 meters high. Umayo lake lies at the foot of the Chullpas which surrounds to Sillustani and adds a great beauty to the landscape. Also there are different types of birds and various wild animals as vizcachas (South American rodent). Finally we will visit a nice farm house of Qolla culture (Atuncolla village) where you will appreciate the south american camelids (alpacas and llamas), its custom of local people, living in their typical houses made of stone, clay and straw. Then a return trip to Puno, transfer to your hotel. End of our services.
